From face-to-face MetLife agent to building one of the first online life insurance agencies
Brian started his insurance career in 2003 with MetLife, straight out of college with a degree in entrepreneurship and marketing. Selling life insurance and financial plans face to face, he was taught a saying repeated across the industry: life insurance is always sold and never bought. The idea was that nobody wakes up wanting to talk about it, so an agent has to convince them.
That belief held until a single conversation changed everything. Brian had proposed coverage to a young couple with two small children. They told him they wanted to think it over. A few days later, the wife called and asked for the policy right away. Her husband’s brother had just passed away, leaving behind three kids, and she refused to let her own family face the same uncertainty.
That moment showed Brian a truth the industry was missing: there are times in life when people seek out coverage on their own. They just need a place to find honest information and a straightforward way to compare options. That insight led him to start selling life insurance online and over the phone across all 50 states, making him one of the very first agents to do so.
More than 20 years later, Brian has sold over $50 million in revenue, earned more than 10,000 five-star reviews, and built Insurancy into an independent agency representing over 50 life insurance companies.
